Mother’s Mother’s Mother (pedestal)
Found scales stacked upon each other to form a pedestal. Holding the apple referenced in my statement. This work considers the teaching of obsession and the passing on of, image issues, eating disorders, and constantly working towards fulfilling impossible, ever changing standards of beauty that hold genetic opposition to my own composition. The quantity of scales and varying types are like time stamps, tallies, emphasizing this obsessive nature of weight.
The scale, once holding a body, becomes a pedestal.
