In this projection work, one is faced with a screen stretched like a skin, pinned to the wall like a specimen to observe, ogled, and gawked at as if flesh can be anything other than flesh. Making use of my hair once more as a material, I punched individual strands through the skin screen for further visual texture to distort the projection. On this hairy screen, an hour run of an \u2018at home laser hair removal\u2019 session plays on. Projecting on the very thing I am removing, flashes of light burst routinely as the repetitive placing of the laser hair removal device is moved across my body.<\/p>

Costumed and staged to reference hair removal ads from the 50s, I connect themes around imposed identities and beauty standards to times of conflict. One is left to consider how this beauty device has an inherent connection to weaponry as the laserflashes and intense bursts of light play without end, only pausing for the device to reload in charge.\u00a0<\/p>

The slow process and intense moments of light play with the tension of the viewer. A tightening followed by explosion, there is no release, only explosions.<\/p>
